Before I ever picked up a camera, I was trying to learn guitar.
Experienced players told me to record myself at jam sessions to track my progress. So I did, using a small point-and-shoot. Watching those videos back was painful. I wasn't very good and I'm still not very good, but I am still working on it and enjoy it!

One night I was packing up after a jam when I walked past the side of the stage where another session was going on. I caught a glimpse of something striking. The lighting, the energy between the players, a moment that just looked right. On impulse, I snapped a few quick photos and kept walking.
A few days later I came across those photos and was blown away.
One click, at the right place at the right time, changed everything.
Shortly after that I picked up an entry-level DSLR and started shooting live music for real.
The rest is of the story can be seen in my photos on this site.
